This course provides struggling students with a foundational review of Algebra 1 concepts, such as systems of equations and quadratic functions. Students then expand their repertoire by working with rational and exponential expressions; polynomial, rational, and exponential functions. Students will explore the expressions that define the functions and expand their abilities to model situations and solve equations. Graphing functions, interpreting key features of the graphs, understanding values of functions, and extrapolating data from a graph are also goals in this course. Students are expected to follow this course with a second year of Algebra 2 content— in the course titled Algebra 2 with Trigonometry. Students in this course will take the NJSLA test.
