World Civilizations 8 is a continuation of the 7th grade history program and will pick up where that class left off. This class will cover from approximately 500 A.D.—approximately 1750 A.D. Topics will include post-Roman Europe, the rise of Islam, the Crusades, the late Middle Ages in Europe, the Renaissance and Reformation, the Age of Exploration and the Enlightenment. It will also include detailed study of non-western cultures such as the Maya, the Aztecs and medieval Africa, Japan, China, and India. This is the second course in a three-year World Civilizations curriculum. It will conclude in the 9th grade.
