S.T.E.M. 7 will be offered to all students at River Dell Middle School in Grade 7, as an elective. S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) has become an essential educational initiative across the nation. The blending of these four areas is an all but natural fit when implementing meaningful hands-on problem solving activities for students.
This course will allow students the opportunity to apply specific mathematical and scientific principles in order to develop solutions to various engineering challenges. Student creativity and risk taking are emphasized in a design and problem solving format that allows them to engage their original solutions in an encouraging environment.
Today’s students are tomorrow’s innovators and leaders! Development of “disruptive technology” which changes existing paradigms begins with invigorating our youth and inspiring them to extend our human capabilities to their maximum potential. With new design innovations, students will recognize the importance of being mindful of the resources and processes used to produce them to have a more positive impact on the environment.
S.T.E.M.7 will jump start our students in pursuit of a better future for all. This course is not a prerequisite for S.T.E.M 8 so students in eighth grade who later develop an interest in S.T.E.M. will be able to enroll.
