In this course, consideration of atomic structure develops the following principles: chemical bonding, periodicity, mass relationships between reactants and products, theory of solutions, qualitative and quantitative properties of gases, and acid-based theories. A study of the common elements, their properties, methods of preparation, compounds, and uses is integrated within the framework of principles. Chemical calculations and laboratory exercises reinforce the principle under discussion and study. This is a laboratory course.
