Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Gracemarie Lamparillo
This marks my twenty-sixth year in the River Dell School District. It is my twenty-eighth year in education. In 1995, I began my teaching career as an eighth-grade special education teacher in River Dell Middle School. I came to the River Dell School District after completing two years in a private school for students with special needs in Bergen County. After ten years in the classroom, I became one of the learning consultants in the district. I case manage students from seventh grade through age twenty-one. I was part of that developed the curriculum for the Transition Program in grades 7-12. In addition to my role as a case manager, I am the SLE Coordinator for the students in the Transition Program. I coordinate and oversee the community based instruction, training plans, and internships. I am a huge proponent of the Person Centered Planning process and promote self-advocacy with the students I case manage.
My education includes a Bachelors Degree from Rutgers University where I was a double major in history and sociology with a minor in psychology. Immediately after my undergraduate studies, I obtained my Masters in Teaching, with a focus on elementary and special education from Montclair University. I went on to continue my studies in the areas of Reading and Educational Leadership from Montclair University. I have certifications in the area of learning disability teacher-consultant, reading specialist, with a focus on Orton Gillingham methods, dyslexia identification, and treatment. I have obtained several administrative certifications.
When not at River Dell, I can be found spending time with friends and family. You may see me at local recreational and high school sporting events for my sons. I live in Bergen County with my husband, two teenage sons, dog and African Gray parrot. During remote learning our African Gray, Harry has enjoyed making guest appearances (or vocalizations) during the MSTeams meetings.
